The work does not end when you leave the chair. With microblading, powder brows or lip blush, how the pigment settles over the next four weeks depends largely on what you do at home. Patients at Dental and Aesthetic by Dr. Mavleen in Sector 20, Kharghar ask the same aftercare questions every week — so here is the day-by-day guide, from the first wash to the touch-up.

The First 48 Hours After Microblading

Right after your session, the brow area looks darker and sharper than the final result. That is normal — the pigment sits on the surface of the skin before it settles in. There may be very mild redness or a tight feeling for a few hours, similar to a light graze.

For the first 48 hours, keep the area dry and clean. Gently blot away any clear lymph fluid with a clean tissue in the first few hours, because if that fluid dries into a thick layer it can lift pigment as it flakes. Do not soak the brows, do not apply makeup over them, and do not touch them with unwashed hands.

Microblading Healing Stages, Day by Day

Days 1 to 3 — Dark and Bold

The brows look their darkest and most defined now. Many patients panic at this stage and think the colour is too strong. Wait. This is the surface pigment, not the healed result.

Days 4 to 7 — Flaking and Scabbing

Light scabbing and flaking begins. The skin feels itchy and tight, and thin flakes of colour may come away. Let them fall on their own. Picking, scratching or peeling a flake early pulls the pigment out with it and leaves a patchy, uneven brow.

Days 8 to 14 — The Ghosting Phase

Once the flakes clear, the brows often look surprisingly faint — sometimes almost gone. This is called ghosting. The colour has not disappeared; it has gone dull because a fresh layer of skin is sitting over the pigment. It rises back over the following week.

Days 15 to 28 — Colour Settles

The true colour and crispness return as the skin finishes healing. By week four you can see the real result — which is exactly why the touch-up is scheduled after this point, not before.

Microblading Aftercare Dos and Don'ts

Do keep the brows clean and dry as advised, wash your hands before touching the area, sleep on your back for the first few nights so you do not rub the brows into a pillow, and apply the thin layer of aftercare balm your specialist gives you — only if and when you are told to.

Avoid the things that fade or distort pigment: no swimming, saunas, steam rooms or heavy sweating for two weeks; no makeup, retinol or exfoliating acids on the area until it is healed; and no direct sun. The American Academy of Dermatology notes that ultraviolet light fades pigment in the skin, so once healed, a broad-spectrum sunscreen over the brows protects your result and helps it last longer.

Aftercare for Lip Blush and Powder Brows

The healing curve is similar for other permanent makeup, with small differences. Powder brows scab a little less than microblading but still pass through the ghosting phase around week two. Lip blush swells for the first day or two, heals faster — usually five to seven days — and goes through a stage where the colour looks very bright before it softens to a natural tint.

For lips, keep them hydrated with the balm provided, avoid spicy and salty food while the skin is still open, and drink through a straw for the first day. The general rule across every treatment is the same: keep it clean, keep it dry, and keep your hands off.

When to Call Your Kharghar Clinic

Some flaking, itching and tightness is expected. A few things are not. If you notice spreading redness, swelling that worsens after day two, yellow discharge, or a fever, contact the clinic — these can be signs of infection and need to be looked at rather than waited out. The American Academy of Dermatology also advises seeing a professional if tattooed skin reacts or changes.

If you are ever unsure whether what you are seeing is normal healing, it is completely fine to message the team at Dental and Aesthetic by Dr. Mavleen and ask. We would far rather check an ordinary scab than miss a real reaction.

The Touch-Up Is Part of the Treatment

No permanent makeup result is complete after one session. Skin heals unevenly — some areas hold pigment fully, others fade lighter — and the touch-up at four to eight weeks is where the brows or lips are balanced and refined. Skipping it is the most common reason a good microblading result looks patchy a few months later. For the full picture of the treatment itself, our permanent makeup in Kharghar service page covers the techniques and pricing, and our guide to permanent makeup myths and facts answers the questions patients ask before booking.
